Price List for Weddings and Special Events
Solo performance fees are the same for piano, cello, or both, for example, cello for the wedding ceremony and piano for cocktails. For Ensembles, our minimum call is the 1.5 hour price, which applies to all engagements of up to 1.5 hours of music. Maximum playing time is 5 hours. After the first hour, musicians take a short break each hour. We do not charge taxes. Extras may include a travel fee, piano keyboard fee and/or custom arrangement fee if applicable. For consecutive hours of music at the same location, the fees are:

Combinations

The benefit of hiring a combination is greater variety of instrumentation for a lower price than hiring an ensemble for the entire duration. For example, for 5 hours of music, hiring a string duo would be $1,320; hiring a solo pianist for 3 hours and a string duo for 2 hours would be $1,040.
Ensembles including a Singer
For a wedding ceremony, you may hire a vocal soloist to perform one to three songs with Michelle or her ensemble. The vocal soloist's fee is $300 for one or two songs, and $350 for three songs.
"Hours" are consecutive hours at the same location. If a wedding ceremony and reception, or two related events on one day, are non-consecutive and/or are held at two different locations, they are either treated as two different engagements or the clock runs continuously. The best price depends on your event locations and the length of the time gap between events. Outside and inside a venue, or different rooms within the same venue, are considered the same location.
For wedding ceremonies, the minimum solo booking is one hour, which includes a quarter hour of music before the ceremony as guests arrive, more music as needed if the ceremony begins late, and processional, signing of the register and recessional music for a 20-30 minute ceremony. For longer ceremonies such as Catholic ceremonies with mass, the 1.5 hour fee applies. To hire an ensemble for a wedding ceremony of any duration, the minimum booking fee is 1.5 hours.
For events outside Toronto, a travel fee applies, which is based on mileage. Michelle will travel anywhere to perform, for the appropriate travel fee. Ensembles may be able to travel, depending on timing and location. Please provide the postal code of your venue to obtain a quote.
For piano engagements at a venue that does not provide a piano, Michelle can provide a keyboard and amplifier for an equipment transport fee of $100.
One custom music arrangement is included. Additional custom arrangements for solo cello are $50 per song/piece. Additional custom arrangements for ensembles are usually $100 per song/piece. The price may vary with the complexity of the music and the chosen instrumentation.
Prices listed are effective August 1, 2008, are subject to change, and are in Canadian currency.
