Solo Piano Music

Michelle has been playing piano since age four, when she started Yamaha piano classes. As a child growing up in Ottawa, she studied piano privately with Netta Gale. When people involved in Ottawa's Ukrainian dance community discovered she could play dance music by ear, she began playing solo piano professionally for several schools and dance companies at age 11. Michelle's principal piano teachers were Garth Beckett at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo and Tom Plaunt at McGill University in Montreal. She completed a master of music degree in piano performance at McGill, as well as a licentiate diploma (LTCL) and fellowship diploma (FTCL) in piano performance from Trinity College of Music in England. The fellowship is considered equivalent to a doctorate in performance without dissertation.

If you're looking to hire one musician for your event, a pianist is an excellent choice as the piano provides a full sound including the melody, bass line, harmonic chords, and sometimes countermelodies. Michelle is available to play your venue's piano indoors or an electronic piano keyboard that she can provide outdoors.
